Head on Crash Injures Two

Around 11:15 a.m. Monday an Acura sport coupe and an older model Honda Civic hatchback collided head-on near the Ford Street entrance to the Steamship ferry parking lot.

Fire Rescue extricated the male driver of the Honda using the "Jaws of Life" tool. He was treated at the scene and transported to the hospital by ambulance with multiple serious injuries, after a MedFlight helicopter was grounded by weather conditions.
The male driver of the Acura received minor injuries and after being treated at the scene elected to be transported to a hospital by private vehicle.
Police will be investigating the crash with traffic expected to be tied up for some time.
