A single vehicle crash resulted in a scary ride for an elderly female operator. Her Honda Accord sedan was north bound when it struck a utility pole just north of Old Barn Road. According to witnesses driving south bound, the Honda side swiped the pole and spun fully around twice in the roadway ending up in the driveway of a car sales lot.
The driver was very fortunate and was able to refuse treatment or transport after being examined by fire Rescue. Police were on scene clearing glass from the roadway and investigating the crash

Around 1:30 a.m. Saturday a State Trooper attempted to pull over a Mitsubishi Eclipse coupe for a motor vehicle infraction.
The driver of the sedan failed to stop and attempted to elude the trooper by heading east on Route 928.
The vehicle left the road at the intersection of Old Main, Main Street and Center Street, traveled across a grassy area narrowly missing several oak trees and ended up deeply mired in a swamp.
Firefighters extricated the driver and passenger and brought them out of the swamp uninjured. Police took the two male occupants of the vehicle into custody. After a State Police investigator documented the scene, the vehicle was pulled from the swamp and loaded on a flatbed wrecker.

Police arrested the Accord driver charging her with operating under the influence of liquor, operating negligently, failing to use care stopping/starting and open container of alcohol. Her vehicle had to be towed from the scene. The crash caused minor delays for motorists.

A two-vehicle crash in the area of Meetinghouse Road sent two operators to the Hospital. A Honda Civic appeared to have rounded a corner on the wrong side of Meetinghouse Road and crashed head on into a Police cruiser.
Both the driver of the Honda, and the officer were treated and transported to the hospital by Fire Rescue ambulances with minor injuries. The cause of the crash is under investigation but the driver of the Civic reportedly admitted fault and was cited.

A rollover crash snarled traffic trying to head for the outer Banks during the afternoon commute. A Subaru Legacy Outback wagon wound up on its roof in the median eastbound near exit 9 around 4 p.m. No serious injuries were reported.
