A horrific crash which killed one person and seriously injured two others, completely shut down Route 95 westbound for a time. One vehicle was involved in the crash about a mile west of the Couger Bridge early Wednesday afternoon. Two occupants were ejected and another was trapped in a Ford Econoline van that went out of control and rolled over.

One passenger, a man, age 22 of Columbia, SC was rushed to the hosptial in where he was pronounced dead. A second passenger, a male, age 30, of Jamaica was rushed to the hospital. The driver, who has not been identfied was also rushed to the Hospital.
State Police requested a crash reconstruction team to the scene. As of 3 p.m. lanes were reopening but delays persisted for some time.

Around 9 a.m. a young male driver traveling alone reportedly fell asleep at the wheel of a Chevy pickup headed north. His truck crossed over the southbound lane and struck a tree on the west side of the road.

A Fire Department ambulance transported the driver to the Hospital with unknown injuries that were apparently not life threatening.
Traffic was reduced to one lane at the scene of the accident and the road was briefly closed when the truck was being removed.
Firefighters had to extricate Two people after a two-vehicle crash at a notorious intersection.

A Honda Accord and a Hyundai Elantra collided at the intersection of  the Service Road and the exit 5 eastbound offramp.
Ambulances were called as three people were taken to the hospital for treatment.
State Police were also on scene.
Police are investigating the crash
