Thursday around 10:35 a.m. a Toyota Tundra pickup traveling south struck a Jeep Grand Cherokee crossing from Shell Lane to Main St. The Grand Cherokee ended up on its roof and the Toyota struck a utility pole after striking the Jeep. Both of the male drivers, traveling alone, were able to get out of their vehicles on their own and were conscious and alert. They were treated on scene and transported to the hospital by Fire Rescue with only minor injuries. Police were on scene to investigate the crash and stand by for the utility company to assess the damage to the utility pole.

A head-on crash late Sunday afternoon sent two people to the Hospital. A Honda Civic and a Toyota Corolla collided by the Transfer Station. Despite the damage both drivers were out and walking around when rescuers arrived. The impact nearly folded the Corolla in half. Luckily there was no passenger in the Corolla. Police are investigating the crash and charges may be pending against one of the drivers. Trafffic was cut down to one lane causing significant delays for holiday weekend travelers for a few hours.

a BMW sedan, Nissan Frontier pickup and small station wagon collided at the intersection of Strawberry Lane and Pine Road.
At least two of the drivers were taken to the hospital for evaluation.

At about 4:15 p.m. Friday there was a two vehicle crash on Main Street and Jonas Lane. A Jeep Warangler heading east on Main St. collided with a Ford Escape turning onto Jonas Lane. The driver of the Jeep was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries. The occupants of the the Ford declined medical treatment. Police are investigating the crash.

Students escape injury after car strikes school van

Four students and their driver escaped injury after the school van they were riding in was struck by a car pulling into Route 66. The crash happened on Route 66 as a Lincoln MKS sedan was pulling out of the Post Office shortly before 6 p.m. Thursday evening. The Lincoln struck the Ford van carrying members of the High School golf team. Despite a blown tire the driver was able to safely stop the van just up the road. The driver of the car also escaped injury. Police are investigating the crash.

At about 10 a.m. Tuesday a Pontiac Grand Prix collided with a DPW truck at the corner of Regions Lane and Margarita Avenue. Fire Rescue transported three people to the hospital with unknown injuries. There was also a fuel spill, which was mitigated by the Fire Dept.

Several people were injured in a dramatic crash Monday afternoon. A GMC Envoy apparently broadsided a Chevy van at the intersection of John:s Lane and Old Straw Road. The impact rolled the van on its side and it came to rest against a utility pole. Three ambulances along with one from Fire rescue transported the victims to the Hospital. None of the injuries appeared serious. Police are investigating the crash.

The female driver of the Honda, traveling alone, was transported to the Hospital by fire rescue with unknown injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.
The Ford driver, also traveling alone, refused treatment.
Traffic was reduced to one lane until the scene was cleared.

Around 8:35 a.m. Tuesday a two-vehicle crash on Barn Road at Poiter Lane sent one driver to the Hospital.
A Kia Spectra sedan traveling east on Barn Rd crossed the centerline and crashed into a westbound Ford heavy-duty landscape truck. Both vehicles were forced out of control but both came to rest with out hitting anything else.
The female driver of the Kia was treated at the scene and transported to the hospital by Fire Rescue with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
The driver and crew of the landscape truck were uninjured.
Police were investigating the crash and Fire Rescue and the DPW remained on scene for about an hour because of fluid spills and the need of a heavy wrecker to remove the truck and trailer.

A single vehicle crash resulted in a scary ride for an elderly female operator. Her Honda Accord sedan was north bound when it struck a utility pole just north of Old Barn Road. According to witnesses driving south bound, the Honda side swiped the pole and spun fully around twice in the roadway ending up in the driveway of a car sales lot.
The driver was very fortunate and was able to refuse treatment or transport after being examined by fire Rescue. Police were on scene clearing glass from the roadway and investigating the crash

Around 1:30 a.m. Saturday a State Trooper attempted to pull over a Mitsubishi Eclipse coupe for a motor vehicle infraction.
The driver of the sedan failed to stop and attempted to elude the trooper by heading east on Route 928.
The vehicle left the road at the intersection of Old Main, Main Street and Center Street, traveled across a grassy area narrowly missing several oak trees and ended up deeply mired in a swamp.

Firefighters extricated the driver and passenger and brought them out of the swamp uninjured. Police took the two male occupants of the vehicle into custody. After a State Police investigator documented the scene, the vehicle was pulled from the swamp and loaded on a flatbed wrecker.

A two-vehicle crash left one driver in custody. A Honda Accord rear-ended a Saturn sedan on Route 6 near Long Road about 8:45 p.m. Wednesday evening. Neither the Accord driver nor the three people in the Saturn were injured.
Police arrested the Accord driver charging her with operating under the influence of liquor, operating negligently, failing to use care stopping/starting and open container of alcohol. Her vehicle had to be towed from the scene. The crash caused minor delays for motorists.

A two-vehicle crash in the area of Meetinghouse Road sent two operators to the Hospital. A Honda Civic appeared to have rounded a corner on the wrong side of Meetinghouse Road and crashed head on into a Police cruiser.
Both the driver of the Honda, and the officer were treated and transported to the hospital by Fire Rescue ambulances with minor injuries. The cause of the crash is under investigation but the driver of the Civic reportedly admitted fault and was cited.

On Wednesday at approximately 12:18 a.m.,, the Police and Fire Departments responded to numerous 911 reports of a serious crash in the area of 834 Route 281.
Police Patrol Officers responded to the scene and found a dark blue 2001 BMW SE M5 severely damaged, on fire, and on its roof. A tree was split in half and a utility pole heavily damaged with live power lines and assorted debris spread over both travel lanes of the roadway
Officers secured the impact area, immediately extinguished the fire, and attempted to assist the lone occupant. Members of the Fire Department assisted in securing and controlling the variety of hazards and in addition, determined that the occupant of the vehicle was deceased.

Preliminary reports indicate that the BMW was travelling eastbound on Route 281 at a high rate of speed and left the roadway striking a utility pole and tree. Witnesses have reported that the vehicle had been travelling eastbound in the westbound lane just prior to the crash.
The Sheriffs Department Crime Scene Investigator arrived at the scene and assisted with photographing the scene and evidence collection.
Police Patrol Force Commander and the Patrol Sergeant assisted at the crash site and Police Crash Reconstruction Officers and Police Detectives are conducting an active follow up investigation.
Utility companies worked overnight to replace the utility pole and restore services. Route 281 was closed and traffic detoured from the time of the crash to 9:30 a.m.. Power has been restored and the roadways are clear.

Alcohol was an apparent factor in a dramatic crash early Sunday morning. The crash happened about 1:30 a.m. on Shore Heights Road. As seen in the photo, a utility pole was left dangling in the roadway. A Honda Accord sedan had extensive damage and ended up with its rear end up on a wall after striking the pole. A Honda Civic coupe's roof was caved in apparently from the downed pole. A parked car next to it had its rear window smashed out. The impact also pulled electrical wires off at least one building and damaged telephone company equipment as well. The Civic driver was arrested at the scene for operating under the influence of alcohol. The Accord driver was taken to the Hospital for evaluation. He is also being charged with drunken driving, operating to endanger and failing to stay in marked lanes. Police are investigating the crash, which shut down Shore Heights Road for several hours.

A teenager who was accused of being behind the wheel in a crash that killed a passenger has pleaded guilty to motor vehicle homicide. The 18-year-old admitted he was driving on the night of September 11th, 2009. Police tried to stop him for a marked lanes violation when he took off. By the time police were able to catch up to him the Chevy Lumina had crashed . The 18-year-old passenger was killed in the crash. A second passenger suffered only minor injuries. He also pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and failing to stop for police. He was sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison with nearly a year already served. Once released he'll be on five years probation.

Police are investigating a serious crash about 1 a.m. on Route 428 in front of the supermarket. A Buick sedan with a lone male driver was northbound on Route 428 when the vehicle apparently went out of control, crossed the center line and went off the road shearing off a fire hydrant, striking a utility pole and then rolling over on its roof.
Fire Rescue worked to stabilize the vehicle and extricate the driver of the extensively damaged sedan. He was then taken by ambulance directly to the helipad at the Hospital and MedFlighted to the medical center in Boston.
The crash knocked out power in the area and utility crews were called to replace the pole and restore service.

A two-vehicle crash at about 6:15 p.m. sent 3 people to the hospital. A Nissan Pickup appeared to have struck the curb at the end of Ridge Street across from Main St. and shot across the intersection striking head on a Nissan SUV that was stopped at the stop sign on Main St. The male driver of the Pickup went to the hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries by Fire Rescue ambulance. The male and female occupants of the SUV went to the hospital by mutual aid Fire Rescue ambulance and a second ambulance with minor injuries. Their dog an elderly Lab fortunately escaped injury. Police are investigating the cause of the crash.

A head-on crash injured three people, one critically, two others seriously. A BMW X5 SUV and a Jeep Cherokee collided head-on town line about 10:15 p.m. The driver of the Jeep had to be extricated. he was then taken to Fire Headquarters and MedFlighted to the State Hospital. The two passengers in the Jeep were taken to local hospitals by ambulance. One was later MedFlighted to a City hospital. Incredibly, the driver of the BMW reportedly fled the scene on foot and a K-9 dog was called to track him. The cause of the crash is under investigation by Police.

Durango broadsided a Villager

At about 1: 45 p.m. Friday a Dodge Durango broadsided a Mercury Villager at the intersection of Route 132 and the ramps for Route 6 opposite the service plaza.

The force of the crash pushed the Mercury up on the traffic island where it hit and damaged a traffic signal. The vehicles ended up facing each other.

The Fire Department took one woman to the hospital with unknown injuries.

A crew from Mass Highway was on the scene to repair the damaged traffic light.

On Tuesday at about 2:30 p.m. a Saab 95 sedan traveling south on Route 281 one mile north of the Route 153 off-ramp rolled over and crashed down into the deep median.

Fire Rescue from two towns responded to the calls as it was near the town line.
The driver was extricated from the vehicle and stabilized on scene.
He was then transported to the helipad at the hospital by a Fire Rescue ambulance and flown to a city hospital by a MedFlight chopper.

Around 11:15 a.m. Monday an Acura sport coupe and an older model Honda Civic hatchback collided head-on near the Ford Street entrance to the Steamship ferry parking lot.

Fire Rescue extricated the male driver of the Honda using the "Jaws of Life" tool. He was treated at the scene and transported to the hospital by ambulance with multiple serious injuries, after a MedFlight helicopter was grounded by weather conditions.

The male driver of the Acura received minor injuries and after being treated at the scene elected to be transported to a hospital by private vehicle.

Police will be investigating the crash with traffic expected to be tied up for some time.

A Dodge Dakota pickup traveling north on Lincoln Highway crossed the center line, struck a Jeep Grand Cherokee in the southbound lane and flipped over on its roof.

The Jeep’s driver appeared to have pulled as far to the right as possible damaging both wheels on the right side of the vehicle in a futile attempt to avoid the truck.

The driver of the Dodge was treated and transported to the hospital. Specifics on his injuries were unavailable at the scene. The driver of the Jeep was uninjured.

A lumber truck rolled over on the ramp from "Grandma's" rotary to Route 425 west about 9:45 a.m. Tuesday morning.

The load of wood spilled all over the roadway closing the ramp and causing major delays.

A MedFlight helicopter was called to the State Police barracks after a serious crash. The crash happened at the intersection of State Road and County Road when a Chevy S-10 pickup struck a tree.

The male driver, age 56, was airlifted to the Medical Center but was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The crash is under investigation by Police who believe a medical condition led to the crash

Car vs. Tractor Trailer

Around 9:15 a.m. Monday the elderly male driver of an older model Nissan Maxima station wagon pulled out onto Route 428 from Main Street and into the side of an tractor-trailer rig rolling west on 428.

Initially hitting the truck’s trailer at right angles the Maxima was then dragged into a position parallel with the side of the trailer, causing heavy damage to the car. The Maxima disengaged from the trailer in front of the art gallery and the truck pulled into the parking lot of the convenience store just down the street.
The driver and his elderly female passenger were not injured and were driven home by a Police officer. The big rig’s driver was not injured and the trailer suffered very minor damage.

Around 1:15 p.m. Thursday a large box truck and an Infiniti QX4 SUV collided at the town line.

The QX4 was apparently pulling out on the north side to turn left.

The truck was headed east.

The QX4 struck the truck’s fuel tank on the left side of the vehicle just behind and below the cab causing a leak that poured diesel fuel on the street and down into a storm drain.

Neither the truck driver nor the occupants of the SUV were injured.

Firefighters responded to the scene. They spread absorbent material on the leaking fuel and worked on the damaged tank to stop the leak. Natural Resources officers also responded to the scene to determine if the leaking fuel posed a threat to the nearby Pond.

Reports from the scene indicate that the spilled fuel, which reportedly amounted to 25 to 30 gallons, was contained within the drainage system and did not pose an immediate threat.
Police responded to the scene and closed the Road in both directions. Fire Department resources cleared the scene shortly after 3 p.m. but commercial clean-up crews remained to continue cleanup. The cause of the crash is under investigation by Police.

Shortly after 4:30 p.m. Thursday the driver of a Ford Crown Victoria lost control of his vehicle southbound at the intersection of Main Street and Old River Road. The vehicle struck and cracked a utility pole. fire rescue transported the driver, the sole occupant of the vehicle, to the Hospital with unknown injuries. Main Street was closed in both directions until utility crews could make repairs. Police are investigating.

A horrific crash which killed one person and seriously injured two others, completely shut down Route 95 westbound for a time. One vehicle was involved in the crash about a mile west of the Couger Bridge early Wednesday afternoon. Two occupants were ejected and another was trapped in a Ford Econoline van that went out of control and rolled over.

One passenger, a man, age 22 of Columbia, SC was rushed to the hosptial in where he was pronounced dead. A second passenger, a male, age 30, of Jamaica was rushed to the hospital. The driver, who has not been identfied was also rushed to the Hospital.

State Police requested a crash reconstruction team to the scene. As of 3 p.m. lanes were reopening but delays persisted for some time.

Around 9 a.m. a young male driver traveling alone reportedly fell asleep at the wheel of a Chevy pickup headed north. His truck crossed over the southbound lane and struck a tree on the west side of the road.

Traffic was reduced to one lane at the scene of the accident and the road was briefly closed when the truck was being removed.

A Honda Accord and a Hyundai Elantra collided at the intersection of the Service Road and the exit 5 eastbound offramp.
